Friends & Supporters:
This morning, shortly after 9 am, 13 year-old Anfernee Joseph brought all New Jersey to its feet with a thrilling win in the 3,000 meters at the Junior Olympic Games in Detroit, Michigan.
Anfernee's mom, Audrey Gill, a resident of East Orange, New Jersey spoke with great joy, pride and excitement of Anfernee's strategic win over the final 300-meters. She said : " with 300 meters to go, Anfernee moved to the front, but with 200 meters left he was lying second; however with 100 meters to go Anfernee had retaken the lead; and as the top three or four runners tried hard to catch him, Anfernee delighted the crowd with a burst of speed that made him the clear winner!"
Two days before, that is on Thursday, July 31, 2008, Anfernee had taken second place in the 1500 meters run, and on Wednesday, July 30 was third in the 800 meters run.
Congratulations to Anfernee, his coaches and all who helped to make this possible, on a tremendous overall performance at the 2008 Junior Olympics in Detroit, Michigan.
The picture (at right) showing Anfernee crossing the winning tape in the 3000 meters run, speaks for itself.
